Activist on Gaza Aid Ship Criticizes Support for Israel

(MENAFN) An activist from Germany aboard the Madleen vessel, which is attempting to break an Israeli blockade and deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, expressed concerns on Sunday evening about the continued support of her home countries for Israel’s actions in the region.

According to the activist, the volunteers aboard the ship are there because their governments are complicit in what she describes as Israel’s "genocidal acts" against the Gaza Strip.

"Bombing hospitals, bombing children, these war crimes we have been watching for 20 months, and this is why we are here. We are here because our governments are not doing this. We are here because our governments are continuing to uphold this genocide, the illegal blockade on Gaza," said Yasemin Acar in a video shared on her Instagram account.

Acar mentioned that they were now very close to Gaza. She also updated her followers, explaining that she had deleted previous videos that raised alarms, since the crew was still safe.

"We all did that due to the fact that we are safe…the interception has not taken place."

Acar further revealed that four Israeli ships were surrounding the Madleen, with two of them coming as close as 200 meters to the vessel.

She stated that this was an unusual development, marking the first time in the last eight days that such a close proximity had occurred, which prompted them to sound the alarm once again.

"There are many lights around us, and two vessels I'm looking at right now, I will try to show you these two. The other two have left, but these two, one of them has a platform," Acar noted.

She then explained that the two ships had stopped, with their engines turned off, and were no longer moving.

"We have reason to believe that this is psychological warfare and they have planned this," she added.
